Advantages: Nothing i dont think
Disadvantages: Everything
As you can probably tell from my reviews and general likes you will know that this is one film that i would definately steer clear of. Unfortunately my husband wanted to watch it and practically forced me to watch it. Well after a mind numbing three hours the film finally had finished and i could watch something a bit more to my taste.
The story of this film i found to be completely messed up and did not make sense. I think whoever wrote it honestly just pulled together a bunch of thoughts and tried to put it into a coherent film. There are two cops, one good and one who is a mole. The one pretending to be good and the one pretending to be bad. Just from writing this its sounds completely ridiculous and i have to say i thought it was just stupid.
The acting might have been good if the actors had actually managed to pull off their accents properly but to me it just sounded forced. Jack Nicholson who i usually like again only did as much as the script gave him. He was good but just couldnt do anything with a script as weak as this. I think everyone got so caught up in the fact of the big names in this film and Scorcese directing it really clouded people's judgement of this film.
Overall i just hated this film, completely not my type of film and went on for way too long. If the story would have been a little less muddled up, accents worked on a little bit and shorter i might have actually enjoyed it a little. My husband spent £13 on this film at Sainsburys which i think is a complete waste.
Summary: A waste of three hours

thedevilinme - 14/06/08 I almost agree this was bland to say the least. The original was much better. It was hype for Scorceses Oscar that got this film kudos. |
