It is several months after the events of House of 1000 Corpses and the infamy of the Firefly family has spread. The police are on to them, and soon, whilst the family sleeps, their home is surrounded by armed officers intent on taking the family out - dead or alive. A fierce gun battle commences, and only two members of the dysfunctional family (Baby Firefly and Otis Driftwood) are able to escape. Director Rob Zombie’s first film, House of 1000 Corpses, was great – a retro horror outing which had a deranged family of rednecks (think Texas Chainsaw meets Hills Have Eyes) living in a house, murdering people in inventive ways for no other reason than they thought it was funny. It was visually inventive, resembling Natural Born Killers in its editing, a device which allowed it to emotionally distance the audience from the rather sick happenings on screen. Having just finished watching this,I have to say that rather than the other reviewers on the DVD pages-I actually really liked this and found it a much better watch than it's predecessor "The House Of 1000 Corpses" which seemed a bit too jokey for my liking.Judging from their reviews,it seems as though there are two camps emeging-those who preferred this and those who preferred the first film.My personal choice goes with this...
