Advantages: Funny, witty, sharp
Disadvantages: Moments when even you want to say ouch
The book was sensational - cutting vicious sharp and really really funny.
The casting of Meryl Streep was inspired - it's quite inspiring and rather frightening to see and hear her delivering the razor sharp profile of Miranda Priestly to the screen.
Anne Hathaway's Andrea is well downtrodden and the office mouse and plays this to a tee. Simultaneously you want to protect her from the lashing tongue of the boss and scream at her for being so ineffectual - making the end rather satisfying.
As a boss Miranda is the epitome of all things awful - any bosses you have had pale in comparison (although the officew bullying may be rather closer to home), but the whole thing has an entrancing pull. Any girl/women with the slightest interest in fashion will want to run and work in a posh magazine, just for a look in one of those cupboards!!!
The combination of the mundane office jobs (coffee, photocopies) and the extreme glamour, make this movie identifiable and untouchable. Good to see with the girls.
Summary: Not for the emotional
