The impending release of the re-re-mastered Star Wars trilogy on DVD next month provides yet another source of hatred from more obsessive fans towards George Lucas over his general inability to leave a great film alone, but these frustrated fans (who are most likely bespectacled and talk in one of them whiny John Major-style voices and are men) are ignoring the positive side of the release: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi can now be seen in all their glory on crystal clear DVD format, complete with special features and a soundtrack that doesn’t wobble all over the place through overuse because they’re the only good videos available when you’re ... I think this could very well be my favourite film of all time. I am part of the Star Wars generation who grew up with the films and I was obsessed with all things related for years after, every birthday and christmas I would receive nothing but Star Wars merchandise. I thought as a trilogy the films worked very well and they still have appeal for both children and adults, but for me The Empire Strikes Back stood out as the best. Released in 1980 this film was hugely successful and virtually everyone must have seen it or at least heard of it at some point, if you haven't don't read on as I am bound to spoil the plot. The action in brief sees Luke ... Read the complete review

Empire Strikes Back is easily the best of the original three films. Don't give me any crap about the Return of the Jedi! Muppets in Space? Don't get me started!!! The first film tested the waters, seeing if there was a market for this kind of film, and it is hard to believe that George Lucas had plans for a group of nine films when he started writing the first. But ESB was the second to get done. A New Hope (ANH) finished off with Vader spinning off into space in his damaged TIE fighter and Luke and Han getting rewarded for their bravery. ESB starts with the rebels still on the run from the Empire, hiding out on the ice planet of Hoth. (Useless ... Read the complete review

This is the second brilliant installment to the Star Wars trilogy. All the original cast resume their roles in this fantastic sequel. There are some new characters, such as Lando Calrissean, Yoda, a wealthy bussines man who used to know Han Solo, Yoda, the old and very wise Jedi master, who trained Ben Kenobi, and the exclusion of Grand Moff Tarkin, as we all remember how he was wonderfully blown to tiny pieces in the first film. Although Obi-Wan Kenobi died in the first film, and became one with the force, he comes back in this film as a ghost. At the begginnig, we see the battle of Hoth take place, as the Empire descovers the location of the rebel base, on the cold, ... Read the complete review
