A review of just the film - this seems only to be available as part of an Exorcist boxset, although a cheap region 1 DVD can be imported through amazon. This is the second sequel to The Exorcist, a hugely over-rated but still popular horror film from the early 70s. The Exorcist 2 was such a disaster, both artistically and commercially, that part 3 wasn't made until 1989. Most of the successful horror films of the late 80s were sequels to existing franchises, so it made sense to try to revive the series then. Unfortunately it wasn't successful, and the series was only resurrected again - with rival prequels - in the last few years. Which is a shame, ... Read the complete review

The Exorcist 3 sees the Exorcist name make a return to our screens and thankfully a much better offering then the first sequel offered (the Exorcist 2: The Heretic) though not as good as the Exorcist's original movie offering. The film sees the town of Georgetown having a series of brutal murders which upon investigation (and obsession to the point of madness) by Lt. Kinderman (George C. Scott) points to a serial killer who was executed. This can't be and makes no sense and so Lt Kinderman contacts his old friend Father Joseph Dyer (Ed Flanders) for his advise on this but with not much help and the clues not making sense all points to the mental institution ... Exorcist III is a finely crafted psychological horror film, the result of some impressive direction by William Peter Blatty, and strong performances by George C Scott and Brad Dourif. I hear a lot of people praising The Exorcist, but I always found the original incarnation of that film lacking in story continuity. I had read the novel many years prior to seeing it, and must say I was disappointed with the film (although not the book). In fact, I actually fell asleep twice watching The Exorcist, and had to watch it several times to see the film in it's entirety. I found the flow of the story was pretty horrid, so I was continually wondering if I had missed a ... Read the complete review

The Exorcist 3 is a very under rated film, during both its theatrical run and video release, critics and fans where baffled by Blatty's storyline and his involvement. The filmis based on another Blatty book called 'Legion' and is just like the sequel to the first, ignoring anything that happened in the second Exorcist film, wisely. While being a sequle though the Exorcist 3 goes off in a total different direction and tries to vastly distance itself from the first. George C. Scott stars as a police man named William Kinderman, William was friends with Father Damien Karras, the preist who fell to his death in the first film saving Regan. Getting over ... The Exorcist III is the second sequel in the popular Exorcist franchise. I think this film ends up being really under-rated as after the total fail of exorcist II people tend to overlook this film and pass it off for just another sequel; in my opinion this film is the real sequel to the Exorcist. As this sequel is based on Blatty's novel Legion the film undoubtedly has good foundations for a successful film, especially after Exorcist II which was made by people totally unrelated to the original, some old characters are reprised in this film particularly Jason Miller who potrayed and acted Father Karras so well in the first film. This film picks up ... Read the complete review
