Crowned Review The Exorcist III (DVD): This Time You're Going To Lose (1365 words)
by - written on 29/12/05 (Very useful, 120 readings)
Rating:

Fifteen years ago, in a small American town, a young girl named Regan Blair was possessed by an African demon who refused to leave the poor girl’s body. Following a lengthy and traumatic exorcism, the demon was finally expelled from her body by a young priest named Damien Karras, who tragically fell to his death from the young girl’s bedroom window. The church was keen to disassociate itself from the events and in spite of the obvious trauma, Regan and her family recovered and moved on. Fifteen years ago, however, other terrible events were also taking place in Georgetown. A serial killer nicknamed the Gemini Killer was on the rampage. With his signature ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Best of a bad lot (890 words)

A review of just the film - this seems only to be available as part of an Exorcist boxset, although a cheap region 1 DVD can be imported through amazon. This is the second sequel to The Exorcist, a hugely over-rated but still popular horror film from the early 70s. The Exorcist 2 was such a disaster, both artistically and commercially, that part 3 wasn't made until 1989. Most of the successful horror films of the late 80s were sequels to existing franchises, so it made sense to try to revive the series then. Unfortunately it wasn't successful, and the series was only resurrected again - with rival prequels - in the last few years. Which is a shame, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Exorcist III (DVD): The Exorcist back on form (265 words)
by - written on 13/06/09 (Very useful, 2 readings)
Rating:

The Exorcist 3 sees the Exorcist name make a return to our screens and thankfully a much better offering then the first sequel offered (the Exorcist 2: The Heretic) though not as good as the Exorcist's original movie offering. The film sees the town of Georgetown having a series of brutal murders which upon investigation (and obsession to the point of madness) by Lt. Kinderman (George C. Scott) points to a serial killer who was executed. This can't be and makes no sense and so Lt Kinderman contacts his old friend Father Joseph Dyer (Ed Flanders) for his advise on this but with not much help and the clues not making sense all points to the mental institution ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Don't ignore The Exorcist III just for being a sequel... (589 words)
by - written on 21/03/01 (Very useful, 62 readings)
Rating:

A very under-rated horror movie... The Exorcist is a classic piece of horror cinema, and the general opinion has always been that the two sequels are very poor in comparison. Exorcist II: The Heretic is indeed pretty rubbish... it was not made by anybody involved with the first film, not written by William Peter Blatty, not directed by William Friedkin. The Exorcist III, on the other hand, is the "true" sequel to the first film. Blatty adapted his follow-up novel "Legion" to the screen, and also directed. Whilst The Exorcist III is no classic, it is a pretty damn good horror/thriller/suspense movie. The film follows Lt. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Exorcist III (DVD): As good as the first (566 words)
by - written on 03/10/00 (Very useful, 39 readings)
Rating:

The Exorcist 3 is a very under rated film, during both its theatrical run and video release, critics and fans where baffled by Blatty's storyline and his involvement. The filmis based on another Blatty book called 'Legion' and is just like the sequel to the first, ignoring anything that happened in the second Exorcist film, wisely. While being a sequle though the Exorcist 3 goes off in a total different direction and tries to vastly distance itself from the first. George C. Scott stars as a police man named William Kinderman, William was friends with Father Damien Karras, the preist who fell to his death in the first film saving Regan. Getting over ...  Read the complete review
