Disadvantages: bad sequel

The Exorcist 3 is the second bad sequel to the still amazing original. This time the unclear plot revolves around the Gemeni killer, who was supposedly executed 15 years ago, the same night of the Exorcism from the first movie. Now more Gemini murders start taking place, could the Gemini killer have come back from the grave to seek revenge on those who casted out the evil spirits from Reagen 15 years ago? The story line isn't all that bad, but the interesting first half becomes a jumbled mess as the movie progresses. It slowly turns into a totally unbelievable and increasingly stupid film as it goes along, and it's a shame, too. I always hate to see a movie with potential waste it, especially when it starts out good. George Scott is absolutely horrible in the lead roll, and I think he was nominated for the Golden Raspberry "Worst Actor" award for that year. There are some slightly disturbing or frightening scenes, but the movie never manages to maintain a scary atmosphere for very long...or your attention. All the scares that are worked up are immediately canceled by the very high and laughable cheese factor which makes the Exorcist part 3 impossible to take seriously. The ending is undeniably laughable; I bet with some better writing the Exorcist 3 would have made a darn fine film. Only problem is, that statement applies to almost all the bad horror movies of the last 30 years. Skip this one and watch the first one again.

Is that a better write up
