Frank Baker is an optomistic piano player who, with his brother Jack, tours the LA bars playing his own brand of lounge music. But the act, as well as their relationship, is becoming stale, due to Frank's refusal to change, and Jack's increasingly apathetic attitude towards the duo. When the work starts to dry up, they realise that they have to do an overhaul. Initially, their attempts to lure a female vocalist brings a myriad of useless and tuneless singers. However, when Suzie Diamond turns up, albeit late and with her own bad attitude, things start to take a turn for the better. This is one of my favourite films. It stars Beau Bridges and Jeff Bridges (who are brothers in real life) as the Baker Brothers. Both of them play the piano, and they regularly perform as a double act to earn their living, in lounge bars and hotel ballrooms. They’ve been playing together for over 30 years and now their act has become somewhat stale. In order to spice up their act they decide to hire a singer, and along comes Susie Diamond, a smouldering sex goddess played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
