Advantages: Good action scenes, Reasonable acting, Van Diesal
Disadvantages: Last action scene is unbelievable
Where do I start? The Fast And The Furious is the surprise blockbuster action film of the summer. It stars an up and coming cast and features some of the best car action ever seen on the big screen. The films centres around Dominic Toretto (Van Diesal) and the friendship he builds with Brian Spillner(Paul Walker). At first things start out as a friendly banter between the pair but as the film progresses we find out that Brian is actually a cop and is undercover. He is looking for a group of thieves who are targetting delivery trucks. Aboard the trucks are thousands of dollars worth of electrical items. There are many sub plots in the movie. Bryan falls for Dominic's sister Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) whilst he makes enemies with some of Dominic's other friends. Also add in the bad guy Johnny Tran (Rick Yune) who is one of he prime suspects and you have a movie which has a better storyline than expected. You could be forgiven for thinking that The Fast and The Furious is a movie for lads which shows off fast cars. However it is not and offers a better storyline than last years hit movie Gone in Sixty Seconds. Onto the action which is fast and frantic. The cars in this film are certainly hot. I am not a car expert myself but even I could realise that some of the cars were a little special. Certainly puts my volkswagen to shame! There are plenty of action scenes in the movie and most of them are really well done. The final scene is a little unbelievable but I will leave that up to you to judge. The actors and actresses in this movie are all relative new comers. Even Van Diesal who is brilliant in this movie is quite new to the big screen. Anyone who has seen him in Pitch Black will be glad to hear that he delivers an equally impressive performance. There are lots of pretty women in this movie and the women who are reading this will be gald to hear that there are some young men on show as well. My wife certainly wasn't disappoi
nted. I had been looking forward to this movie for about 6 months now and I have to admit to not being disappointed. It is not going to win any awards for storyline or acting but the action is excellent and it will keep you entertained all the way through. In a summer of disappointing movies The Fast and The furious is definetely the pick of the bunch.
