Advantages: Lots of action.

Disadvantages: Not much story.

In America there are groups of rich kids who race very expensive sports cars in illegal street races for the prestige of being the fastest kid on the block. They nickname these cars as “ten second cars” because of the fantastic acceleration and high speeds that these cars can achieve.

This film looks at a particular group of street races known as “The Team”. The police and FBI suspect that this group have been involved with the hijacking of trucks full of expensive electrical goods, using their fast cars to pursue and stop the trucks before stealing their valuable cargoes.

Brian Spindler (played by Paul Walker) joins the groups of street racers as an undercover FBI agent who is sent in to infiltrate the street racers to get some proof of the people who are behind the hijacking.

The group is led by Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) who is a real hero amongst the street racing community. His life revolves around fast cars and when he is not street racing he is working on cars and tuning them to get very best performance out of each car. His sister Mia (played by Jordanna Brewster) runs a sandwich bar that is the meeting place of “The Team” and it is here that she meets Brian Spindler and they soon becomes very close. This bit of romance adds to the story in the film.

Diesel is superb in the role as Dom and in my opinion put on the best performance in this film.

The film is very much a “lads” film with many scenes of very fast cars racing each other, or in high-speed pursuits. Around each of the meetings of the street racers there are a whole community of people who follow the races and this includes groups of very pretty young ladies who are featured a lot in the film.

The story line of the film is fairly shallow and mostly predictable, but this is still a good, enjoyable film. The racing scenes are very well filmed and there is certainly the feel of high speed
throughout the whole movie.

You can believe that these people really are street racers, as the whole set up of beautiful people, fast cars and lots of money, makes this a very believable film.

If you enjoy the world of fast cars and pretty people, then this film will certainly appeal to you. We found it very entertaining and although the story line isn’t very great it is still a good film to watch.
