Advantages: Excellent storyline, visual effects
Disadvantages: none really
The fifth element is a futuristic sci-fi thriller starring Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman and Mills Jovovich. The movie is directed by Luc Besson who also directed Leon and Nikita. Storyline: The movie starts on an archalogical dig in 1920's Egypt, it introduces the good alien species and the basic background of why the priests protect the temple and the prophecy of the fifth element. The story then moves to the year 2257, where Bruce Willis play's an ex-special serviceman, now working as a flying taxi driver. He accidently gets involved with the fifth element(Milla Jovovich), and the story evolves with him helping to protect the fith element aginst the movies main baddy, Gary Oldman. Features: The special effects in the movie are very good, and are done well with an insight to what the future may hold. All the costumes were designed by John Paul Gautier, so all outfits are very bright and somewhat bizzare. There is also a cameo apperance from Lee Evans. DVD features: The extras on the DVD are not brilliant on the R2 Disc, what is available is, the original theatrical trailer, cast and crew bio's and searching for the fifth element.

- 22/02/01 I agree with kirstieksf below. I like the film too, it's something original. Good basis for an opinion, but would be improved with some more detail. |
