A review of Odeon Entertainment's 'Best of British' DVD release, available from amazon for £6. This is a better-than-average British horror from 1972, directed by Pete Walker, the king of downbeat suburban horror. It wasn't included in Anchor Bay's great Pete Walker boxset, so it's good to see an affordable DVD release become available. A group of young actors are rehearsing a show in an abandoned seaside theatre. But then the killings start. Is someone nasty lurking in the theatre? Or is one of them the culprit? A group of struggling actors and a similarly struggling stage director are all recruited by a mysterious theatrical company to appear in the improvisational play The Flesh And Blood Show. Beginning in a small Essex seaside town, the show will start here at a theatre at the end of a deserted pier before moving on to the West End.
