The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas (DVD) ... DVD released 21 July, 2003 at Universal Pictures UK / Features of the DVD: Anamorphic, Dubbed, Full Screen, PAL, Widescreen / Kids will enjoy the dinosaurs, gaudy prehistoric decor, and cartoon humour of The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas; but adults will find fewer morsels of entertainment, although the sly performance of Alan Cumming (Eyes Wide Shut) as the Great Gazoo, an alien sent to Earth to observe human mating behaviour is a highlight. The movie begins before Fred (Mark Addy from The Full Monty) and Wilma (Kirsten Johnston from Third Rock from the Sun) Flintstone ever met, back when Wilma was an unhappy rich girl seeking happiness in a less snobby environment. Running away from her smothering mother (Joan Collins!) and an oily suitor, Chip Rockefeller (Thomas Gibson from Dharma and Greg), she winds up at a drive-in restaurant where she meets Betty (Jane Krakowski from Ally McBeal), a waitress who thinks Wilma is actually homeless and invites the runaway to live with her. Our blue-collar heroes, Fred and Barney Rubble (Stephen Baldwin from The Usual Suspects), ask the girls out on a double date, and before long Fred and Wilma bond over bowling. But it turns out that Chip is in debt to a ruthless loan shark and needs Wilma's money, so he invites the couples to his new casino in Rock Vegas, where he plots nefariously to ruin their blossoming love. The plot holds no surprises and the dialogue is clumsy, but there's a blithe dimwittedness to the whole affair that makes it curiously inoffensive. --Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com

... to my wife falling asleep lol!) The Flintstones are a fictional family, set in the time of dinosaurs, and makes a farce out of modern society by making comparisons between now and then, hence the title of the film: Viva Rock Vegas. This film sees Fred (Mark Addy) and Barney (Stephen Bladwin) struggle with the courting side of things, accompanied by a strange alien known as Gazoo (Alan Cumming). They, along with Barney's girlfriend Betty (Jane Krakowski) find out that Wilma (Kristen Johnson) is actually from a ridicu...more

This afternoon, my wife, my son and I decided to sit down and watch a film as a family. There doesn't seem to be much on TV, so we settled for the ITV afternoon movie, which happened to be Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas. For those of you who are familiar with the cartoon series or who have seen the first Flintstones film, this takes us back in time to when Fred was courting Wilma and Barney was courting Betty, before they were married and had houses next to each other and kids, etc. So, after half an hour, my wife had fallen asleep and my son had lost all interest, but I found myself strangely riveted to the TV screen. It was a corny film with helpings of ...  Read the complete review

I seem to be one of the few that enjoyed the original Flintstones movie. Therefore I was interested to see what the prequel - with a changed cast - would look like. VIVA ROCK VEGAS, is a good idea. Plenty of chances for clever Vegas jokes - especially if you've been there and know the place quite well. The changed cast - WELL.... casting Brit Mark Addy as Fred Flinstone struck me as odd and I could not really see Kirsten Johnson (Sally Soloman from 3rd Rock) as a Wilma. The Rubbles were OK - but Rick Moranis WAS Barney in the first film! Well, sometimes sequels/prequels to a film are fantastic. Now and then they are decent. And in others, sometimes they are ...  Read the complete review

This morning we went to see VivaRockVegas which is released 28 July 2000. The film has a 'PG' rating and seemed to be enjoyed by many of the children watching it. Gazoo the Alien who can only be seen by Barney and Fred brought an unusual element into the traditional Flintstones story lines. There were moments which were extremely funny in a traditional love story where the 'innocents' Fred and Barney triumph over the bad guy and win the ladies of their dreams; Wilma and Betty. The film contains some superb special effects in particular the dinosaur acting as a bridge over a wide river valley and the fun fair ride provided by other dinosaurs. Dino ...  Read the complete review

I took my seven-year-old son, and his ten-year-old friend to see The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas. This was a good film, not one to rave about but very enjoyable. It started with Wilma living in a big house with a very interfering mother, trying to get her to date the owner of bedrock Las Vegas. Wilma left home and went to bedrock burger bar, where Betty was working as a waitress. Betty felt sorry for Wilma, not realizing that her family were very wealthy and took her home with her. Fred and barney worked in the stone yard together. There was a little green alien sent down from another planet to find out about their mating rituals, and of course Fred ...  Read the complete review

I went to see this at the cinema not long after it was released and plan on watching it again very soon. My kids enjoyed this film very much indeed. The story centers around Fred wanting to finally settle down and find a girlfriend and get married. Barney and Fred are friends that are living and working together at the Slate Rock Quarry. They are on the beach one day talking about finding some girls . They see an alien who says he wants to find out about the Human mating ritual. The following day Fred and Barney drive into town and find a Restaurant. The waitresses are all wearing Roller Skates. Fred sees Betty for the first time when she comes to take his ...  Read the complete review
