Advantages: John Carpenter's musical score

Disadvantages: a little slow in places

THE FOG is an interesting movie. The storyline involves a small seaside community which is laid siege to by the onslaught of an unearthly fog. The film is in fact a ghost story and plays on those fears which we all have of the unknown after all those scary stories we were told as children. In this case, the unknown is of course what lurks within the fog.

Although there is some wooden acting from the supporting actors, the three main female stars are all excellent - Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis (who had previously starred in director John Carpenter's movie HALLOWEEN) and Janet Leigh (Curtis's real-life mother). Barbeau in particular is particularly good, and her good looks certainly help too - a shame about the typical 1980s hairstyle though!

As is typical for his movies, John Carpenter also wrote the musical score, and this gives a great deal of atmosphere to this movie.

Definately a movie to watch, but not alone, and not on those cold nights when the fog is closing in.....

A classic horror, I remember watching for the first time when I was a child (obviously I shouldn't have).
