Advantages: Clever story

Disadvantages: little character development

Antonio Bay is celebrating its 100 anniversary and wanting to help them celebrate are the ghosts of a leper colony who drowned after their ship was lured into rocks, during a dense fog, by the town's ancestors precisely 100 years ago today.

Just as the party starts a mysterious fog rolls in and, not letting bygones be bygones, the ghosts start picking off the towns' folk one by one in grisly fashion.

Fortunately 70's scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis and cut price action hero Tom Atkins are on hand to save the town but not before some great set pieces and genuinely scary moments are to be had.

As usual with Carpenter's early films the music's great, the acting's passable and the whole thing is hammy enough to keep the film enjoyable. A great film for those who enjoy a good scare but also enjoy a good story too.
