Advantages: All-star cast, great plot and action scenes, amazing HD quality footage of China

Disadvantages: An epic that could of gone on longer

As like a lot of people - I took advantage of the great offers from Lovefilm and rented out a lot of new releases on Blu-ray a few months ago.

The Forbidden Kingdom, has to be one of the best movies I've seen on Blu-ray this year. I was tempted to go see this at the cinema, but sadly missed out at the last minute. Lucky for me, Lovefilm were extra kind to me and got this movie to me almost straight after joining them!

Jackie Chan stars in this American martial arts film, which is an adventure and some tongue-in-cheek comedy moments, with Jet Li tagging along for good measures!

The starring cast is enough to get any martial arts fan bouncing with glee! Not only does it feature two of the genres greatest (Li and Chan) but adapts the legend of the Monkey King into the movie. If you grew up watching the Monkey series, you'll know exactly who I'm referring to!

The movie is a long epic quest to deliver a staff to its original owner, with much action, magic and special effects along the way.

The addition of watching this movie in Blu-ray format is that you get to witness the great action scenes and various landscapes across China, which are simply fantastic to watch in High Defination. The Blu-ray special features go into great detail about the making of the movie, along with various behind the scenes footage that can only be brought to life on Blu-ray.

At such a cheap price at the moment, it would be crazy to miss out!

Summary: Best martial art movie of the year
