... well. These were all added extras though as it was the film I was really looking forward to seeing on a cinema screen. Though of course seeing it with a pianist, how it was made to be seen, does make it an all round experience to savour. The Freshman has Harold Lloyd playing Harold, a naïve young boy who has been saving to go to college and is finally about to embark on this life changing event. Harold Lloyd is the unsung genius of the silent era comedians. Chaplin, Keaton, Laurel & Hardy are all lauded with superlatives and endlessly replayed on TV screens. Harold Lloyd is the missing 5th superstar who has seemingly been forgotten by the masses. Apart from the late 70's when BBC broadcast a clip show under the name of 'Hooray for Harold Lloyd' I have never seen any of his stuff on TV. Since those days of my childhood watching that clip show I have adored his slapstick antics and rate him above all the other silent superstars.
