This is not usually a film which I would personally choose to watch but it was a recommendation on Amazon that bought it to my attention, as I do like John Travolta and this is my hubby's sort of film I thought I would get it and give it a go. At the start of the film we meet Sgt, Frank White who is undertaking arms deals, he is a military man who is selling weapons to the public. Unbeknown to the buyers he is undercover. Soon the deal ends with the death of the buyer so Frank White's real identity is revealed to us. He is in fact Paul Brenner who is a military investigator. Paul soon gets called to the army base when there has been a murder. He ... Read the complete review

'The General's Daughter', 1999. Run time: 112 minutes Director: Simon West Screenplay: Christopher Bertolini I have heard many criticisms about 'The General's Daughter'. Maybe they read the book (written by New York writer, Nelson DeMille) and were disappointed with Christopher Bertolini's screenplay. I, on the other hand, did not read the book but I did watch a mighty fine film. A good mix of an involving storyline with eye-catching action, 'The General's Daughter' is a must-watch film. If you like a good "Who did it?" story then I'm sure you will appreciate this movie. THE ... Read the complete review

This film has sadly been missed by many viewers. John Travolta and Madalaine Stow star. Despite his excess bulk, Travolta puts in a pretty good performance in what is a fine piece of script writing. The story begins with the discovery of the generals daughter tied to stakes in the ground, naked, spread eagled and very dead. Despite the appearance, she has not been raped. Travolta is placed on the case, fighting his way through the male dominated, majorly corrupt, and seriously close-knit army ways to get to the truth. This film is a strange combination of crime thriller, moving drama and verging on romantic piece. It works extremely well. The scripts ... Read the complete review

After having something of a break from film reviews and I back to what I know. To keep with the theme of my more recent film reviews I am going to use another John Travolta film as my subject: The General’s Daughter. I first saw this film when it was released in the cinema and now own it on DVD. It is far from a masterpiece of filmmaking but is certainly entertaining enough to be watched more than once. ** Background ** The General’s Daughter can be broadly described as a thriller. It is directed by Simon West, who has done films like Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and is based on the novel of the same name written by Nelson DeMille. The story ...
