Advantages: There are literally none.

Disadvantages: Everything.

Horrors are no longer horrors. They are focused entirely on shocking and disturbing the viewer and pleasing the sick and twisted minority who genuinely enjoy watching torture and rape. It has become popular to fabricate "deep layered meanings" within these torture movies that simply don't exist. Let's take Martyrs for instance; it apparently showcases the strength of the human spirit when in reality it's a thirty minute torture scene wrapped up with gore and cold, pointless death.

The acting is wooden, the dialogue is laughable and there is no valid reason why this film should ever have been made. I would be ashamed to say I was in any way a part of the production of it because it's one thing to watch fictional characters in a fictional world, but another to regard true events as horrifying as those which Sylvia Likens endured, as entertainment.

There is no real underlying message, although they do embarrassingly attempt to create one, and no sense of accomplishment that can be derived from The Girl Next Door. I never finished it as I knew the ending of this true story and I couldn't find a plausible reason to continue. Quite frankly, it should be banned. Not just because of the violent and vile scenes but because it has no objective and the Indiana murder should not be made into some strange form of depressing entertainment. I'm sure Sylvia and Jenny Likens would agree if they were here today.

Summary: "Gregory Wilson" trying to make a name for himself...
