The following review is about one of my favourite adventure films of all times and I was really happy when it was decided to release it on DVD.

The Goonies is a classic adventure film and is brought to us by the wonderful imagination of Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, War of the worlds and Saving Private Ryan) and is directed by Richard Donner.

Released back in the 80's this adventure film tells the story of a group of 4 teenagers who call themselves the Goonies as we follow them on a hair raising, swashbuckling adventure as they try to save their friends family from selling their house to a businessman, the Goonies discover an old treasure map and set off to redeem the treasure which leads them into a magical underground realm of hidden passages, outlandish booby traps and the hidden pirate ship of the infamous One Eyed Willy and his lost treasure.
As well as having to survive the underground obstacles set up by the last of pirates One Eyed Willy the Goonies also have to fight off the an evil family of robbers who want the treasure for themselves and will do anything to get it but not every member of the family is bad as we are introduced to a mild mannered monster with a face only a mother could love who becomes friends with the Goonies.

I won't go too much into the plot as this will give the film away and spoil it for everyone who wants to see the film.

This is a really good film and the special effects are breath taking which is typical of Steven Spielberg and will have everyone on the edge of their seats and laughing out loud in this magical adventure, although released back in the 80's this is one film that to this day is still refreshing and gets better with every watch.

The film is rated 12 and has a running time of 110 minutes, there are also special features on the DVD such as audio commentary, the making of the Goonies, deleted scenes and a music video.

The price of the film varies from between £3 up to £8 and you can get it from any shop that sells DVD's such as any supermarket or music store so shop around for the cheapest.

The film is perfect for youngsters and the young at heart so I would highly recommend it to anyone as this is a must own film that never gets boring even after you have watched many times.

Summary: A film that can be watched many times - so funny - a highly recommended, must see movie!
