The first thing you would probably do when you pick up this DVD would be to look at the special features. The next thing would be to put it back down again and then walk off, and that would be where you make the mistake. Usually when you hear someone call a film a 'classic' what they really mean is old and out dated but with The Great Escape this isn't true. Sure it doesn't have the best special effects ever but it has a very strong story, something that is quite hard to find. This coupled with a fine cast of some of the best actors ever to grace Hollywood makes for one of the all time greats. The making of documentary also provides you with some quite interesting facts about the movie. If you like war films and Steve McQueen this is the best DVD you'll ever buy. I personally don't regret buying it for one second and I hadn't even seen it before when I bought it.
