3 Hours of Trash (The Green Mile (DVD))

Am I the only one who thinks this film was trash? I rate Tom Hanks very highly as an actor and was looking forward to what was hyped at being a great film. I'm not quite sure whether it was the mouse, the big friendly giant or the fact that the 'story' could have been told in half the time. 3 hours?! or was it longer? And does anybody know what that 'stuff' was that came out of that guy's mouth?

The film was based on inmates on death row. The big friendly giant (sorry can not remember his name) was found in the end to be not guilty of his crime which was the murder of 2 sisters. The real convict was also an inmate but was put on death row for a different crime, and subsequently died but not by being electrocuted. Will not give the rest away.

The big friendly giant also has mystical powers. He helps Tom Hanks with his urine infection by grabbing his U Know What and spurting out 'poison?' from his mouth. Tom then realises that this man could not be guilty of his crime and convinces his colleagues to get him out of prison for 1 night to help his boss's wife who is dying from cancer. This he does and successfully.

Oh and all through the film there is this little 'sweet' mouse, although what it was meant to play in this film I am left to wonder, only that this mouse befriends the big friendly giant and in the process making him look even more 'gentle?'

When the film had finished I was left feeling "what a load of baloney oh and what a waste of 3 hours - I could have been watching paint dry instead".

The special effects were well crap and the story line was well crap too! What annoys me is that everyone I have asked thought this film was great. My boyfriend who watched it with me thought it was the best film he had seen in ages! Am I the only one? I will proceed to read the other comments to find out!
