Advantages: A moving thrilling film
Disadvantages: None, apart from it makes you cry!
I watched The Green Mile on video last week and wow, what a film! When I read the back of the box it sounded really uninteresting and I only got it as it was recommended by a friend. It stars Tom Hanks as a prison officer working on Death Row in the 1930's. It made me laugh and cry.
The other leading part of a prisoner accused of raping and murdering two little girls and is called John Coffey (played by Clarke Duncan) is a joy to watch. He is one huge chap over eight feet tall and he has the gift of healing hands. He even manages to bring a mouse back from the dead, and cures Tom Hanks urinary infection! When he was taken for his execution I was in floods of tears it really upset me, he was such a nice man, he was incidently innocent and did not commit the crime for which he was sentenced.
The film starts with Tom Hanks as an old man in an old peoples home talking of his life back on death row, and we then go back and see what happened and it then finishes with Tom as an old man again. I won't tell you anymore about that as I don't want to spoli it for you.
One thing you'd better know is that the film is on for approx 3 hours!! But believe me you will enjoy every minute, I would certainly recommend that you watch this.
