Advantages: Warms your heart, brings a tear to your eye
Disadvantages: you'll have to wait and see, as I dont want to give away the ending.
This film was highly recommended to my husband by his hairdresser. It is a bit of a tearjerker, and an ideal film for most poeple, but it does have a rating of 18. It is a film based on the novel by Stephen King. The Cast ......... Tom Hanks- Paul Edgecomb David Morse- 'Brutal'Brutus Howel Bonnie Hunt- Jan Edgecomb Michael Clark Duncan- John Coffey James Cromwell- Warden, Hal Moores Michael Jeter- Eduard 'Del'Delacroix Graheam Green- Arlen Bitterbuck Doug Hutchison- Percy Wetmore Sam Rockwell- William 'wild bill'Wharton The story ......... The film is told in a flashback by Paul Edgcomb to his old friend Elaine Connelly, while they are living in a old peoples home. The story is set on death row in a southern prison in 1935. It is a story of a cellblocks head guard, and his unusual relationship with one inmate who posses a magical gift, that is both mysterious and miraculous. Set in the depression-era in the South, it tells of Paul Edgecomb watching inmates taking their last walk down the green mile. The green mile is a stretch of green flooring that takes the men from their cells to the electric chair. Over the years he walks many men to their death, until he encounters someone called John Coffey, who is a massive black man who has been convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. He has the size and strength to kill anyone, but his simple naive nature and fear of the dark makes Edgecomb think otherwise. So Edgecomb begins to question whether Coffey was truly guilty of murdering the two girls. There is a mouse, mr jingles, belonging to Delacroix who does steal the show too, by doing his little circus tricks. Being a DVD makes it a very clear picture and nice clear sound in Dolby Digital 5.1. You get a 10minute documentary on the movie which shows you behind the scenes of the cast and Stephe
n King himself. You can watch it in English or German, and you have a large variety of languages to choose from so you can watch it in subtitles. I wont tell you any more of the film, go out and hire it for your self, or better still go into your local woolworths and buy it for yourself, and you can enjoy it over and over again.
