... someone or something that Karen can't see. I won't bother telling you any more about the story because it's just the same as any other of these types of horror and chiller films. The 'bad guy' is a scary Japanese type and she's proper creepy but like in The Ring, the creepiness is mainly because of her long black hair that covers her face and the fact that she moves with proper jerky and jittery movements. I suppose you all want to know if it's scary. Well..... noooooo!!! I love a good horror film but wasn't reall...more

I've missed out on the whole Asian film thing, no reason why it's just that I watched The Ring and thought it was so crap that there didn't seem any point watching any more of them! lol The Grudge is an American remake starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, it's set in Tokyo and Gellar plays a student called Karen who is doing part time work as a carer/home help. She is given a lady with severe mental health problems to look after when her usual Japanese carer disappears. As soon as Karen goes into the house she realises something is very wrong, the house itself is mega creepy and it scares Karen when she starts seeing things out of the corner of her eye ...  Read the complete review

An American care worker, Karen, is working in Tokyo and is delighted when she receives her first proper assignment - to visit an American woman with mental health issues. A Japanese worker was supposed to have been in charge of her care, but went AWOL. When Karen arrives at the house in question, she is horrified to find her patient in a terrible state, and hurries to clean her up. Then hearing a noise upstairs, she goes to investigate, and finds a small child hiding in a cupboard. Little does she know that the house is cursed and that everyone who enters it will be hounded to their death. Can Karen work out what is happening? And will she be able to escape with her ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Grudge (DVD): The Grudge (312 words)

Fantasticly terrifying! The Grudge is a worthwhile horror movie and a "must see" for any horror fan. Its actually a remake of a Japanese horror movie, which is reportedly the scariest movie ever made. An after seeing The Grudge, I wont argue. Basically, the story centres around a semi-abadoned property in what appears to be the outskirts of Tokyo, but this place has a history (some of which you will learn in clever flash backs, and time loops) and an evil prescence is waiting, and is hell bent on wreaking death and destruction upon all that enter. Particularly good is the opening lines to the movie, that mention that when a person dies ...  Read the complete review

The Grudge is certainly one of the scariest movie I had watched. The story itself and the scary effects arouses the thrill making me startle most of the time while watching this film. Adapted from Ju-on: The Grudge, the original Japanese version. Released in America on 2002, and become top grossing horror film. SIGNIFICANT CAST: Sarah Michelle Gellar as Karen Davis, an exchange student volunteer to be a caregiver for Emma. William Mapother as Matthew Williams, the new house owner recently promoted and assigned in Japan Grace Zabriskie as Emma Williams, Matthew's mother suffering from impaired memory Bill Pullman as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Grudge (DVD): Ju-On The Grudge (160 words)

The original, Japanese version of the grudge is, and always will remain one of my favourite J-horrors of all time. This is probably because it;s one of the most compelling. The storyline is gripping; the tale of a family torn apart by jealousy unfolds at an alarming rate, and with more twists and turns than a roller coaster ride. While the gore is kept to a minimum, it's not needed; the shock factor and creepy atmosphere that runs throughout the film, particularly surrounding the house around which the plot centres, is more than enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. The chilling scenes featuring the ghost, Kayako, are terrifying; she is ...  Read the complete review
