THE GUNS OF NAVARONE.
This a classic war film which was released in 1961 and directed by :
J. Lee Thompson
Running time approximately 158 mins
written by Alistair Mclean and Carl Foreman
The cast of the film is good bunch ,Gregory Peck (Mallory),David Niven (Miller),Anthony Quinn (Stavros), Anthony Quayle (Franklyn) and Stanley Baker ("Butcher" Brown)

The basic plot of the film without spoiling it is as follows :
A crack British team is sent to cross occupied Greek territory and their mission is to destroy a massive German gun emplacement that dominates
a key sea channel which if the guns are destroyed ,the allied naval fleets will be able to get through with important supplies and reinforcements.
Basically its a straight cut no nonsence hard true grit and determination
movie with no lets jump totally out of the plot soppy romance side tracks
that appear in most modernwar films nowdays.
The visual effects and sound quality are not great , but this is an iconic
60s war film that will live on forever.
It is the type of film that should help us remember the sacrifices that so
many people made during the second world war, if not for them were would we be now!
A great film i watch it ever time its on .One not to miss.

Summary: one to watch on a nice comfy sofa
