 ... it turns up on TCM this week. Great stuff! Caine is quite surprisingly menacing in this film as well. He's angry, violent and psychopathic throughout. His sweaty, snarling bulk makes you wonder how he ever managed to bed his on screen wife Andrea Marcovicci, let along father a sprog with her. The film also makes not mention as to why Caine is again an Englishman living in the US. 'It lives, it crawls. And suddenly it kills.' Michael Caine plays one of his sweatiest and crazy 80's haired characters ever in Oliver Stone's early horror effort. Caine's hair comes very close to stealing the show - in fact in the Michael Caine film book I've recently read describes it as a 'white man's afro'. This film, along with 'The Island' and 'Dressed to Kill' show Caine entering the world of early 80's horror, a genre he would steer clear of as he started getting Oscar noms. To sum it up, Caine plays Jonathan Lansdale, a cartoonist who loses his hand in a freak car accident. The hand then comes to life and starts killing people.
