Advantages: Clever plot, Funny moments

Disadvantages: None come to mind as it really is an enjoyable watch.

I am going to try and tell you about this movie without revealing the plot but whether you understand what i'm getting at or not, it is certainly a movie to see this year. The Hangover is a film that was released earlier this year, directed by Todd Phillips, which instantly caught my interest due to the name. I could sort of tell that his had the potential to be a very funny movie as i'm sure most of us have heard or experienced some hilarious drunken stories and times.

The film features a man, Doug, who is about to get married and is having his stag do in Las Vegas with two close friends and his fiance's relative. One is a school teacher who is ready to party, one is on a tight leash by his other half, the relative is a crazy fellow and Doug is a regular guy who is getting married. The movie runs for 100 minutes and starts with the lads at their work places or with their families and then the trip to Las Vegas. Along the way as you would expect, various little funny gags are slipped in, and you really enjoy watching it unfold.

With the film being called, The Hangover, you are expecting a massive night out. However the last scene of the night out you see is the four of them, sober, standing together having their first drink of the night. This scene becomes increasinly important as the plot develops. I had not seen the trailer for this film so I thought it was a nice surprise for the film to greatly focus on the next day rather than any of the night out. Maybe I should have expected this though with it being called, The Hangover.

As the next day sets, as you would expect they wake up in a right state and there are various odd but funny occurrences but as the morning develops they realise there is a much bigger problem which they spend the whole day and the start of the next day trying to resolve. The clever thing is that they do not remember the vast majority of the night before. So it almost becomes a modern day and funny Sherlock Holmes sort of day as they unravel the mystery of the night before to solve the massive problem. Whilst they are doing this there is the small matter of making it back to the wedding on time as well!

The Hangover has a surprisingly clever plot which really keeps you interested with an endless stream of funny moments as you would expect. A great film.
