Advantages: Funny and at times ridiculous
Disadvantages: None really
I don't usually do reviews of things that people have already reviewed a lot but The Hangover is fresh in my mind and a film that I enjoyed, so I've decided to jump on the bandwagon!
The Hangover uses the tried and tested formula of having a couple of goof balls go on a road trip, in this case to Las Vegas for a stag trip ahead of Doug's wedding. This sees his two best friends join him, alongside his eccentric step brother.
The Hangover jumps around a bit at the beginning but generally works by trying to work out why one of their friends (the groom to be) is missing as they try to retrace their steps through a night none of them really remember. The story actually keeps you guessing until the end but it is of course no way challenging, just the type of thing you switch on and switch your brain off and enjoy during an evenings entertainment.
The situations are daft and there's some pretty humorous scenes, I found those involving a Chinese gangster and Mike Tyson added an extra bit of umph to it but the 4 main characters, in particular Doug's friends all had rather strong characters that came through exceptionally well.
My favourite character of course is Alan Garner played by Zach Galifianikis, the guy comes up with some classic comments and everything from his appearance to his ideas are pretty humorous.
There's a little bit too much swearing in it for it to be a family film but it's definitely light-hearted and something you can enjoy with ease.
Summary: A silly film with a hint of laddishness about it
