Advantages: Good storyline if a little strange
Disadvantages: Mad characters!
When this film came out I was actually doing a film studies course and we "studied" the trailer for it, and I thought it seemed pretty good, and it got the whole class wondering what the film could be about, a very god bit of advertising. But to be honest I did forget about it until i saw it advertised on Sky Movies yesterday and thought I'd give it a go considering it had looked very interesting from the trailers.
The film is classed as Sci-Fi/Fantasy, but I'd really class it as a thriller, you know the kind that gets you thinking wow can this really happen!?!
I have mixed feelings about the film:
Cons:
I am doing the cons first as to be honest they're the ones which come to me first...not a good sign I suppose!
Character perforance is the main con about the film...although good acting is used in the film, the actual performance, the written part, is weird as hell!!!!! The two main characters Elliot and Alma are a married and act really weird, the things they say to each other is crazy... like Alma went and had dessert with a guy from work, Joey, when we first hear her talk about him, we think she's having an affair, but she literally went out, on her lunch break, and ate tiramasu with this man...and thought she'd cheated...weird woman. But thats not really anything bad about it!
Also the storyline is a little crazy...I can't go into it without revealing the plot line but its a bit mad!!
Basically when people start killing themselves in New York, the news and media latch onto it and start saying that terrorists have released a toxin which does something to the human brain by making people want to commit suicide and so the whole city starts killing themselves...
everybody gets out of the town, and heads for the border as the whole North West of the country is getting infected by this thing...but what the hell is it!?
The film is actually pretty good and quite gripping, though only on for 87 minutes...so not long aty all!!!!
Definitely one to give a chance!!!
Summary: A good watch
