Advantages: Very funny.

Disadvantages: A few choice jokes.

After watching the first series and enjoying it immensely I was worried the second series would not be able to match its standard. But series 2 goes above and beyond its predecessor.

The comedy still revolves around four mis-fit friends trying to get laid and fit in with the popular crowd. Ok...a scenario ''done to death'' but this British comedy is believable, very funny and its cast of young actors are brilliant.

Series 2 gives us more of an insight into the main characters; Will, Simon, Jay and Neil. Each character is very different but equally funny and the essence of what makes this comedy so funny. The Inbetweeners is a hilarious look at teenagers on the brink of adulthood but not quite being able to jump that last hurdle. Will is the geeky new kid who is still trying to be forgotten as the ''Briefcase W****r''. Simon is his friend, who is obsessed with friend of the family Carli. Whenever he is on the verge of getting close to her, he manages to mess things up in the most absurd and hilarious of ways. Jay is the obscene friend who talks the talk but hasn't quite walked the walk. Finally, Neil is the ''stupid-one'' who believes everything Jay says and hangs on his every words.

In this series they have to negate a geography field trip, work experience, handle foreign exchange Patrice, a London night club, the Duke of Edinburgh award and exams. All relatively regular things for teenagers to do but in The Inbetweeners you know this is never the case. On the geography field trip they end up on a boat trying to fish in the middle of winter. Will and Neil get their work experience placements mixed up and Will is in for a rough ride at a car garage. When Patrice the foreign exchange comes to stay with Simon's family, they can't seem to get away from him but he turns out to be useful when getting into parties. Simon forgets to wear smart shoes for the clubs in London and in his desperation to get in swaps his new trainers with a tramp. In a bid to earn the D of E award they all volunteer to help in an old people's home but Jay finds himself in a sticky situation. Finally the exams seem to be getting to all of them who deal with the pressure in their own unique ways.

The Inbetweeners is a light hearted look at the pains of growing up for four lovable mis-fit friends. Once you watch an episode you will be hooked and soon find yourself wishing for more episodes to be made. I recommend you watch the first series as some jokes transcend between the two series but each can be appreciated separately. You can pick up the second series for £11.98 and the first series for £12.98 or both for just £17.88 on amazon. The second series has a number of special features including bloopers, deleted scenes, an interview with the head of 6th form, video diaries of the 4 main characters, plus more.

If you want to see the British version of american pie but actually funny, buy this DVD.

Summary: A brilliant British comedy.
