Film Only Review ~~~~~~~~~~~ Louis Sallinger (Clive Owen) has been trying to take down a corrupt bank for years. A previous Scotland Yard investigator, now pen pushing for Interpol but his duties remain the same - to destroy the IBBC (the International Bank of Business and Credit). Salinger is convinced that the IBBC is in some way connected with the trading of arms and money laundering for organised crime. He is a crumpled mess, and on the edge but has one passion and that is to see the demise of the IBBC. His obsessive mission drives him to distraction so much that he forgets about his family, friends and relationships and even his personal ... Read the complete review

I was sold on renting the DVD international by two words on the front cover. 'Conspiracy' and 'Thriller'. I love thrillers, built up on suspense that involve someone cracking a conspiracy theory, they leave me debating in my mind for ages afterwards how many huge conspiracy theories exist in real life. I had not heard much of this film when it was out of the cinema, but I put those doubts to one side and excitedly rented this film. Clive Owen plays an ex detective now working for Interpol. His lives work, at both jobs has been to bring down the bank named IBBC. He believes it is morally corrupt, and involved with money laundering of organised crime and ... Read the complete review

The International tells the story of Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) an Interpol agent who is investigating a bank acting as a broker in Chinese small arms trading. His partner gets assassinated in classic spy manner at the very beginning of the film. Keep a close eye on what happens in the first few minutes because it's so sneaky you can miss it. Salinger joins forces with American DA Eleanor Whitman (Naomi Watts) to try and uncover a global conspiracy. But the bank will stop at nothing to conceal its corrupt activities and sends its own agents out to get rid of them. Salinger begins to realize that several world governments are tied up in this, to the extent of ... Read the complete review

.......... "The banks objective isn't to control the war; it's to control the debt that the war produces. You see, the real value of a conflict, the true value, is in the debt that it creates. You control the debt, you control everything. You find this upsetting, yes? But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we are nations or individuals, slaves to debt""...... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - With greedy bankers in the firing line right now it's no surprise a topical thriller or two is coming out in the cinema and on DVD. Louis Salinger works for Interpol and is determined to uncover some corruption within the world's most powerful bank, the IBBC (The International Bank of Business and Credit). He has found out that the bank is funding terrorist activity by buying in weapons and selling them off, and causing destabilisation in small country Governments too. Together with Manhattan District Attorney Eleanor Whitman, the pair travel across the world from Germany to Italy to find who is behind it, and also the assassinator of the Italian Prime Ministerial candidate who was willing to speak out against the IBBC.
