When a space shuttle explodes just outside the earth's axis, it unleashes an alien life form that takes over human bodies. The infected become devoid of human emotion and see their new status as a peaceful alternative to the violence-ravaged modern day society. They spread the seed by spurting a revolting green liquid from their mouths onto the new victims, and as soon as they fall asleep it takes hold. Their are, as always, protestors. Carol Bennell, a psychiatrist who notices the change in some of her patients, discovers that a certain medication is the antedote to the infection, but right now her main focus has to be on rescuing her son from her ex-husbands evil ...

The first thing that came into my head as The Invasion began was "Plastic Surgery"; in the two years since actress Nicole Kidman had made a physical appearance on screen she had lost a good five years, and most annoyingly she had developed that rather annoying Victoria Beckham pout, perhaps the two things are connected. I know this is a hard line to take at the start of a review, but this age reversal process is striking to the extent of being the most overpowering thing about the movie.
