**BRIEF PLOT**
Based on the lives of two so called 'gentlemen' gangsters the movie follows the 'Kray' twins from being born, right through to th1960's when Ronald, (played by Gary Kemp) and Reggie, (played by Martin Kemp) began their reign of terror in London's East End where they soon became the most notorious gangsters of the time.
They control a large part of the criminal underground, taking pubs, clubs and snooker halls from people with offers no one will ever refuse.
Often holding meetings at their parents small terrace house, their mother, Violet Kray, (played by Billie Whitelaw), often bringing the entire gang tea and biscuit.
Their father, Charlie Kray, (played by Alfred ) comes across as a layabout who thinks more of himself than his family, deep down he is petrified of his sons.
The twins closeness making them almost invincible and their love for their mother almost heart warming considering the utter violence that the duo inflict on any one who crosses their path.
With many gruesome attacks and horrible deaths the brothers control all around them
**IN CONCLUSION**
Well what a film, (if you like to watch some gruesome, almost evil acts of violence).
For those people who have never heard of the Kray's then this movie will tell you everything you need to know and how these two brothers.
The ways in which the brothers achieve their reputation is almost horrifying as the movie is based on true facts....There is the 'Chelsea smile' which consist of the corner of the mouth being sliced by a sword and the victim made to scream.
With many bloody acts of savage aggression involving swords, baseball bats, knives and other implements of terror this movie just oozes violence and anger, especially from Ronnie Kray who is said to have suffered from paranoid Schizophrenia.
This was the first major filming roles for Gary and Martin Kemp, (who at the time were better known for their singing rather than their acting as they were involved in a British group called Spandau Ballet). They played the roles brilliantly and very convincingly, almost seemingly becoming Ronald and Reggie.
Would I recommend this movie..???
Yes I certainly would. It tells the true story about how two young men became so angry with their lives and the area they lived that they simply took control of the entire area, albeit with excessive violence.
It truly deserves the 18 certificate it was given
**WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KRAY TWINS?**
Their terror came to and end after the killing spree and the brothers were sent to prison for a minimum of 30 years.
Ronald died in Broadmoor psychiatric hospital in 1995 and Reggie died of cancer soon after being released.
THEIR REIGN OF TERROR IS OVER...BUT THEIR REPUTATION LIVES ON...!!!
Summary: The old time gangsters are still remembered

- 12/06/08 I thought this was a pretty bad film, personally, and far from historically accurate (it hardly mentioned Charlie Kray, the third brother, for instance). |
