Advantages: Interesting and a little educational

Disadvantages: Some parts were a bit on-going

This film is about the life of a pair of twins Ronald and Reginald Kray (played by Gary Kemp and Martin Kemp from the pop band Spandau Ballet) who were born in London during the second world war.

The film was directed by Peter Medak. What he was trying to portray, was the lives of the two most frightening and influential gangsters to ever come out of England.

The Plot:

The film starts off when the two twins were small children, giving background information about their life of poverty in a working-class environment. But the film shifts up a gear once the twins grow older, and rise from working-class obscurity to the highest ranks of organised crime. The two actors both did a good job showing the instability associated with the Kray brothers, (I don't know if it is true in real life but Reginald Kray is portrayed as a homosexual person). The film also shows good visual portrayal of most of the things that the brothers did. The film ends with their fall from grace, as their personal lives and violent natures turn into two murder charges which result in 30 years of imprisonment.

I think this film would be useful for people that are interested in the history of british crime and for people that like gangster movies. I personally thought it was a great film and certainly one worth watching if you like the same sort of films.

This is a film I've been meaning to watch for a long time and never actually got around to, I'll probably just end up watching it the next time it's on TV.
