Advantages: The chemistry between actors, beautiful settings
Disadvantages: Slight confusion on the timeline of events
This film brings the viewer straight into the action (so to speak).
Sandra Bullock is Dr Kate Forster, an attractive single lady who is moving out of her beautiful Lake House into a new apartment. She kindly writes a note for the new tenant wishing them happiness on moving in.
In moves architect Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) who responds to the letter.
Immediately we are thrown into a slightly confusing love story. Both these characters seem attracted to each other by the words but, as in most romance films, there is one slight catch, Alex lives in 2004 whereas Kate lives in 2006.
This concept starts off rather simply but as time progresses in the film you start to feel lost as to who is in what time and it taints a rather beautiful love story.
On a brighter side, this film does give both Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves chance to shine. Unlike Speed, there is no action sequences to mask any under-par acting, and I think both these actors rise to the occasion brilliantly.
While the script could do with a little tweaking the acting was a perfect choice and was, overall, a pleasant watch for a rainy day.
Summary: A film to watch on your own on a rainy day
