I must admit, I have never watched an episode of The league of gentleman on TV. I caught slight glimpses of the comedy sketch show and it never really appealed to me much but having noticed that they had made a big budget movie of the show, I was fairly curious. I rented a copy last night to see what it was all about and my head is in tatters. I still don't know what to make of it all, my viewing experience of 'Apocalypse' has left me dazed and extremely confused. The Plot: The TV show's characters all live in a fictional town called Royston Vasey. They all go about their strange business (men dressing up as housewives, seemingly normal guys pretending to be ... Read the complete review

I expected so much from this film which was always a worry. This is another UK TV show that tried to transfer it's format to the big screen and failed in a majorly big way. The show as a TV entity is brilliant and can do no wrong. Sadly the same can't be said of it's big screen incarnation. The characters themselves are very strong on TV and thrive well in the setting of Royston Vasey. But the entire concept of this film is that the Gents themselves have decided to kill off those characters in favour of something more highbrow and serious. So some of the characters of Royston Vasey make their way into the real world to stop this happening. Tubbs, ... Read the complete review

*Review of film only* I've never watched an entire episode of 'The League of Gentlemen', as I find it a bit to freaky and grotesque for my liking - so it was with some confusion that I viewed the feature length version 'The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse' a couple of days ago. Directed by Steve Bendelack, the story works on the premise that the inhabitants of Royston Vasey (the fictional village where League of Gentlemen is set) realise they are characters in a TV show, and find a portal to the 'real' world. Upon stepping out onto the streets of London, camp German 'Herr Lipp', freaky butcher 'Hilary Briss' and the unusual 'Geoffrey Tipps', set ... Read the complete review

I am a huge League of Gentleman Fan. I have all of the three series on video which I have watched and re-watched and re-watched and the Christmas special is knocking around somewhere as well. Thus back last year, when I heard that there was a film out I was really excited about it. I thought that the characters of Royston Vasey had been put to rest, but I was wrong and I couldn't wait to watch their crazy antics once more. ***The League of Gentleman Series One-Three*** First just a little bit of background for those of you who have not been fortunate to come across this before. The League of Gentleman is a British satirical comedy set in the ... Read the complete review

This is quite possibly the worst film i have ever seen! After watching all of the television series's i thought this would be the perfect film for me as i enjoyed the alternative black comedy in the tv show. My favourite character being Pauline possibly the worst Job Centre employee ever with a passion for pens. The plot of the fillm is the stupidest thing ive ever heard of. Basicly the characters from the Leauge of Gentlemen Show have been forgotten about and ignored by the shows writers. The apocalypse of their town, Royston Vasey, has begun. The characters descover a hidden room in the tunnels underneath the church, the room allows them to leave ... Read the complete review
