Oh yes I’m back and this time I bring you the second series of The League Of Gentlemen and let me just say what a top class DVD this is but please pull up a chair sit back and have a read. Quick Note this is a rather large op so it may be better to view offline to save your phone bill unless you are like me and don’t have to worry about time limits. Right so let me take you back a few weeks when I ordered the second series of the League Of Gentlemen on DVD from www.play247.com and if you know me you will know that I’m a major fan of the show and couldn’t wait until the postman knocked on my door with the little parcel of joy, so ... When the League of Gentlemen first appeared on our screens in 1999, it amused and horrified in equal measure. Some found the grotesque, over the top characters hilarious, whilst others found them... well, grotesque and over the top. Series Two effectively features more of the same, which should immediately tell you whether it's for you or not. The same small cast play most of the characters in a programme which is essentially a sketch show with a few running themes. It essentially follows the (mis)adventures of the inhabitants of Roysten Vasey, a town populated with misfits, losers and weirdos. Curiously, Series Two gets off to a weak start with ... The first release of The League of Gentleman on DVD was a perfect example of how to do a TV Show presentation on the format. A year later sees the release of the second series and a substantial improvement in presentation and special stuff. For those that have never seen the show then the best way to describe it is Emmerdale meet’s Deliverance. The show is set in the small northern village of Royston Vasey where we see the exploits of the weird and wonderful residents. Some people think the second series wasn’t as good as the first but personally I thought it was better for many reasons. The foremost reason for my view can be found in the first ... The League of Gentlemen not only happens to be one of the funniest things on the television - it also manages to be one of the few things that truly sends a shiver up my spine and makes the flesh creep. The first series was downright horrifying and hilarious but the second series ups the ante and keeps things going at a magnificent pace. Something is killing the citizens of Royston Vasey - giving them fatal nosebleeds. I won't give away what is doing it but there is much fun to be had in the finding out. Meanwhile Tubbs and Edward decide to try and find a bride for their son David and one of the most terrifyingly funny characters in the history of the show, Papa ... Read the complete review

Rating:
The second series of the hit comedy the League of Gentlemen seems less episodic and more storyline-based, even though the previous year had the 'new road' plot, and individual story arcs for all characters. The series can essentially be summed up with: nosebleeds. The 'special stuff' meat sold by butcher Hilary Briss becomes the major player towards the end of this series, as it becomes the source of Royston Vasey's population's nosebleeds. Meanwhile, there are continuing storylines for the Denton family ("the lavatory ... into which we do not pass solids"), the Local Shopkeepers Tubbs and Edward ("we'll have no trouble ...
