The Lion King Disney DVD

In my humble opinion, I would class this as Disneys best animated film. The story is a great epic tale, given the traditional Disney look and the amazing african theme, which gives us a great deal more adventure and emotion than some of the later Disney movies. The mix of popular music with african tribal music is amazing, and with Elton Johns help, I would say the songs are the best of any Disney film. It was partly due to this fact that the film won so many awards.
The story tells us about the life and adventures of Simba, who is the next in line of his pride. The leader at the beginning of the film is his father Mufasa, who is envied by Simbas uncle, Scar. Scar is desperate to take over the pride and hatches a plan to oust the current leader.
Simba is able to escape, but finds himself alone and eventually is helped out by two misfits, who despite their outward appearances and initial stupid ways, come good in the end. Simba is so caught up in his new life of leisure that he all but forgets about his pride and what happened. Scar, being a despot and terrible leader has caused terrible famine to occur in the land where Mufasa once was King. Eventually, as a young Lion, Simba returns to his pride and without spoiling the ending, there is a great showdown and some very emotional moments! The film is suitable for all and can be watched again and again, The music is amazing and you'll be singing along. This is a proper animated movie, and not just CGI and computer generated.
I can't recommend this enough, the DVD version I have is the single disc, but has lovely colourful menus and a few nice extras, including some trailers.
