Advantages: a classic film
Disadvantages: children didnt quite get the story line
The Lion King was released in 1994 by Disney, it is the 32nd film in the Disney Animated Classics series. The Lion King Story was strongly influenced by the William Shakespeare play Hamlet.
The Lion King takes place in the Pride Lands of the Serengeti, where a lion rules over the other animals as king.
Simba is an inquisitive cheeky young lion cub he is next in line as head of the pride after his father King Musafa. However his evil uncle Scar is not happy that Simba's birth has resulted in his displacement as heir to the throne. Scar plots to kill Mufasa and because Simba gets caught up in the stampede that does this, Scar convinces Simba that he is responsible for his fathers death and that he must run far away from the Pride Lands and never come back.
The frightened little prince flees the Pride Land and he is befriended by a wacky warm hearted warthog, pumbaa and his companion meerkat Tiomon. They adopt a "hakunna matata (no worries) attitude to life. Simba matures in to a young adults and by chance meets up with a childhood friend Nala and she persuades Simba to return home after she tells him about the hard times the Pride Land has fallen into under scars reign as king
Will Simba able to defeat Scar and take his place as The Lion King?
This is a lovely film great for all the family, tho my little didn't quite get the understanding of Simba's dad dyeing or the story line but even saying this they loved the film as you don't really need to know this to enjoy. The music in the film is great and I still fine my self singing Hukunna Matata. This must be a lovely way to live.
Summary: a good film
