For those of you out there who have spent the last ten years holed up in a cave without any contact with the outside world then you probably don't know that Tolkien's mammoth book was eventually turned into three mammoth movies. The rest of us are split into two groups - those that probably want the film shown at their funeral and those that want it burned/buried instead of them at their funeral. The box-set contains all three pieces that make up the Lord of the Rings trilogy - The Fellowship of the Ring The Two Towers The Return of the King Anyway, let's get the preliminaries out of the way.....Middle Earth is suffering under ... Most people have read the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien, myself included many years ago, so you will all be no doubt familiar with most of the story, for those who are not here is the brief outline. ... This trilogy of movies is the story of a very dangerous magical ring that must be destroyed and the trials that one person must go through in order to destroy it, since evil forces would do anything to have that ring, and the world is in danger because of those evil forces. Yes, this is the essence of these three movies - there's not really a hell of a lot more here. What's more it took a whole three two-hour plus films to do it! Heavens! Okay, so I'm probably at a disadvantage here since I have the painful memory of trying to read the book and failing miserably. However, it has often been proven to me that a book that one doesn't enjoy can be turned ... Read the complete review
