This is yet another classy production from the Hallmark Entertainment Network. A charming tale that is set in Ireland, and is a fantasy take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The story centres on the conflicts between the two main races of fairies in Irish folklore – the Leprechauns, who are the mischief-makers, and like the easy life and a drink and the Trooping Fairies who look after nature and are more serious. This DVD is currently only available on Region 1, but is well worth looking out for. The story is basically a love story centred around (and the cause of) a war between the leprechauns and the Fairies, with Jack Woods (a human) trying to help out. It is a long film at just over two-and-a-half hours, but the disc is handily split up into 42 chapters, so dipping in and out (if desired) is easy. The film is presented in 4:3 TV ratio and the picture quality is absolutely superb.
