The Man From Planet X. ================== This movie starts with, some good special effects, of a planet spotted drifting through our system and it is going to come close to the Earth. The Planet named planet X, (how imaginative!) will be studied by many around the globe including Professor Elliot who sets up a small observatory in the remote moors of a Scottish island. He along with daughter Enid and Dr Mears, a former student and love interest of the profs daughter are soon joined by the obligatory Newspaper reporter that always seemed to be in these movies. This movie was made in only six days, but is far better than some films which have taken a lot longer. The story concerns an alien who arrives on Earth to look for help for his freezing planet, but discovers that not all humans are prepared to help and as such he ends up being destroyed, along with his spaceship. Although the production values were obviously not high, there is tension in the film, and The Man From Planet X himself has a particularly ugly visage. One interesting point about the plot of the film is that the alien initially means no harm to the people of our planet, which is in contrast to many of the science fiction movies made around the ...
