Advantages: understand the matrix
Disadvantages: none
The special effects in this film changes the way films were made, the story is amazing although confusing at times, definitely more understandable second time round. A sparklingly original sci-fi film that was carried off in such a brilliant manner it is the most convincing sci-fi film I've seen.
As far as the actual acting goes it did suit Keanu Reeves pretty well (not from his goofy bill and Ted days but for his moody and mysteriousness),he portrays the 'panic - I'm feeling a little lost' element of his character Neo/Thomas Anderson. Te other actors are great, Laurence Fishbourne as Morpheus, and Hugo Weaving as the evil Agent Smith are brilliant in their roles. Carrie-Anne Moss carries off her part well balancing good looking with the ability to be cool and kick ass. The sets and cinematography are also fantastic as are the cityscapes, the film has a feeling of enormity to it.
The choreography and action in the film awesome some of the stuff they pull off will leave you wondering how they did it. I think this is part of the appeal to the film, that and exploring the unknown. They're wear almost gothic-esque black clothing and sunglasses and huge black boots. The mixture of kung fu and various martial arts as well as gun wielding with slow motion bullet firing make this film epic.
The music in the film fit s the mood amazingly, it really sets the tone and can change how you are feeling about a person or place, it really does what film music should do.
Altogether it is a really good film, the matrix is one film in a trilogy but I believe is watch able on its own the three films together cap the trilogy off and really will leave you with your jaw hanging.
my alltime favourite film.
I also have this review on Ciao.
