The Mighty Boosh Series - 1 (The Mighty Boosh - Complete BBC Series 1 (DVD))

Advantages: Hilariously funny Disadvantages: None
The Mighty Boosh is quite possibly the most obscure and random comedy out there at present. Written by and starring Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt it follows their strange daily lives in which they go on adventures together and meet strange fictional characters. Series 1 is set in a zoo, known as the Zooniverse in which Vince Noir (Noel Fielding), a crazy, stylish, popular, electro music lover and femininly cool man and Howard Moon (Julian Barrat) Vince's best friend and a Jazz loving loser, both work as zoo-keepers along with the Zoo Manager, Bob Fossil (Rich Fulcher), a talking Gorilla, Bollo (Dave Brown) and Naboo the Zoo magic shaman (Michael Fielding). In the series Vince and Howard meet hilariously strange characters and find out about many unknown secrets in the zoo. The cameos, Bollo, Naboo and Bob Fossil play quite large parts in some episodes and are also very funny and strange, such as Bob Fossil who knows absolutely nothing about animals in any way and refers to them by their appearances and personalities as he does not know what they are actually called. Naboo, who knows much about magical spells and who's remedies and solutions to problems are often drug related, is side-splittingly funny. Finally, Bollo who plays a slightly smaller part in the comedy (he has a larger part in Series 2 and 3) is loved by Vince and is an animal in the zoo who is also very amusing. The comedy is mostly directed at adults than children and needs an open mind and an understanding of subtle humour. I personally found The Mighty Boosh - Series 1, the perfect comedy, hilarious and something you can refer to or just laugh about later. Summary: A must have for alternative comedy lovers! |
