(film only review) Introduction This movie was released all the way back in 1992 when I was still very young. I first saw the film on television a good few years later and enjoyed it alot. I guess it helped a bit as I have always been into sports both playing and watching as well as now doing a bit of coaching. This is definately a feel good type movie with the rise of an underdog. It is a disney film so this does have the children's aspect to it and is not too serious about the sport which is Ice Hockey. The film went on to become a trilogy with two further films being released. Plot The film stars Gordon Bombay ( Emilio ... Read the complete review

The Mighty Ducks trilogy are some of my all time favourite films. Ive finally gotten round to buying all 3 on dvd. After the films came an animated series and now a NHL team, the Anaheim Ducks. The Mighty Ducks is a story about a lawyer who finds himself on the wrong side of the law resulting in community service coaching peewee ice hockey. The team he gets stuck with really arent any good and none of them even want a coach. It's a classic underdog, rags to riches story with a high feel good factor but then again what Disney film doesnt have a happy ending? Thats what we all love about them. The Mighty Ducks stars Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay ... Read the complete review

The Mighty Ducks is Disney's tale of a cynical mans redemption through his coaching of a pee-wee ice hockey team. Heart-warming yes, but also predictable. The story is very formulaic, following a strict cause and effect structure that leaves little room for confusion. Considering the target audience though, this is necessary. The film is aimed at a younger audience and this formulaic approach provides them with an interesting yet simple plot that will never leave them feeling bored or bewildered. While this may ostracise some adults it is useful in ensureing an enjoyable experience for children. There is however, enough action and drama within the story to provide ... Read the complete review

I loved The Mighty Ducks when I was a kid and and I still love it these days. Its a great story about a beaten down lawyer, Gordon Bombay, who ends up coaching a peewee hockey team who have never won a match. He teaches them how to pull together as friends and go onto glory, bringing back memories of his own childhood and what could have been. Gordon realises that he has gained a sense of acheivement and has found something he has always wanted to do and something to work towards, he has found his calling. This film contains great escenses of humour, love and friendship. I also realised that this film helped me decide what I wanted to do in my life and ... Read the complete review

This film is my favourtie film. I completed a film studies degree and did my dissertation on this very film. I am not going to write a review on the storyline. The underlying themes of this film is of the american dream. So if you want to sit back and watched a heart warming film of bad kids gone bad through team work and hard work then this film is for you. It illustrates that dedication and common goals can forfill a gap in young kids lives to bring together community and common values of success. With the backdrop of ice hockey, this film illustrates that every character has been touched by the 'american dream' bug and reformed their lives around the competeing team ...
