I missed this series when it was shown on TV, I actually got the box set as a present. That didn't matter, I was hooked, I watched all the episodes from series 1 and moved onto series 2.

The OC is definately a great series. Its first appeal was in the relationship with the bad boy gone good, Ryan, and the spoilt rich girl next door, Marissa. However, the sarcasm from Seth and Sandy is probably the funniest aspects of the show.

Also Seth's love life has a major influence on the first series, with his relationships with both Anna and Summer. Seth goes from being pretty much the school geek when Ryan arrived to having 2 women fighting over him. He does make the wrong choice and dates Anna, but quickly realises that Summer was the girl of his dreams.

The other characters provide much entertainment, Marissa's father riping off everyone in the OC, Marissa's mother sleeping with her ex boyfriend and then marrying Caleb, Kirsten's father, not to mention Oliver holding Marissa at gunpoint.

Overall a great series, one that will get you hooked, but will disappoint in the 4th series.
