Who could not love The O.C ? (The OC - The Complete Season 1 (DVD))

The OC is like a cross between 90210 and One tree Hill in my opinion, only better than either. We have Ryan ( the sexy bad boy ) who is rescued from a possible life of trouble ( although his early years in Orange County don't really lead him onto the straight and narrow !! ) by Sandy Cohen, a district attourney who genuinely wants to work with 'troubled' kids and help them. He is Ryan's attourney and offers help when he realises that Ryan is a bright boy and is capable of so much more in life than car crime. Ryan ends up biting the bullet and accepting the help when he's thrown out of his mother's home by his Mother's boyfriend and Sandy takes him back to his 'mansion' in Orange County. Here he lives with property developer Kirsten ( daughter of the wealthiest man in Orange County, hence the 'mansion' ) and Seth ( his geeky in a sexy way and hilarious son ) who up until now has hated living in Orange County. Seth seriously dislikes the effect that the rich lifestyle has had on the kids at his school, where Seth is verbally bullied on a daily basis. ) Seth and Ryan get along from the get-go but Kirsten has major reservations about allowing Ryan to stay until things are sorted out at Ryan's home and it's not until Ryan returns to his mother's house and finds her gone does Kirsten begin to feel for Ryan. However, when Ryan ends up back in jail for his role in the burning down of one of Kirsten's property developments, Kirsten and Seth witness for themselves the horrors of leaving Ryan there and Kirsten agrees to take responsibility for Ryan and Ryan then becomes a Cohen. Once Ryan is a fully-fledged Cohen Seth and Ryan go about securing themselves some hot girlfriends. Ryan's instant attraction ( and vice-versa ) to Marissa the girl next door ensures that her on-off relationship with boyfriend with Luke ( the resident school 'jock' ) is permanently over ( much to the disgust of Luke who is at one time enemy of Seth and Ryan, for different reasons ) and Seth's childhood crush on Summer, Marissa's best friend, leads to many hit and misses to a possible relationship between the two. Season one of the OC really lays down the characters of the show as Ryan becomes part of the family and settles in a permanent resident at the Cohen's. There are also many other relationships and character's that sesaon one explores including those of Marissa's parents and Kirsten's father. The OC season one leaves you wanting more and wanting to know what happens next, do Kirsten and Sandy really have the perfect marriage, will Seth and Summer ever really make a go of things, will Ryan and Marissa's complicated relationship ever become untangled, will Julie Cooper ( mother of Marissa ) ever grow a heart and become less obsessed with money ? All these questions must be answered in later series, but what a great series to start the story off !! Plus, there's the added bonus of having a great soundtrack too !!

I'd recommend this for anyone age 12/13 up depending on level of maturity etc as there are typical 'teenage' issues explored in the programme.

Summary: This is a great show for the guys or the girls and it leaves you wanting series 2 asap !!
