The pair devour Simon's typically sharp and witty script in a frenzy of classic one-liners that allow Lemmon's trademark twitchy neurosis and Matthau's baleful cussedness to flourish. Great as they are, though, they are nearly eclipsed in the funniest scene of the film by Monica Evans and Carole Shelly as a couple of British expatriate sisters from the apartment upstairs. Carry On innuendo briefly meets Manhattan repartee and the screen crackles with brilliance. It's a comic masterclass. Newest Review: ... played by Walter Matthau. DIVORCED COUPLE !!- UNIQUE COUPLE !! ODD COUPLE Walter Matthau (Oscar Madison) Jack Lemmon (Felix Unger) whenever I look at these 2 great actors, I cannot keep myself from laughing, they look so good together, they must be called a couple, a couple whose comedy style will remain unsurpassed in Hollywood history. Walter Matthau tall, serious, cynical, grumpy and sloppy, Jack Lemmon tense, introvert, sensitive, helpless, neatnik. I have seen these 2 actors in many movies, I laugh just seeing them together, my stomach hurts, there was something very cute about them reacting to each other, the laughter comes inspite of yourself. I am not using high flaunting ... Read the complete review

Simon, of course, penned the screenplay adaptation, and with what would soon become classic music by ... Read the complete review
