Advantages: Good acting and plots

Disadvantages: Some parts are too tense for me

The creator of this movie plays a trick between 'haunting' and 'haunted', by means of which the name of the movie 'The Others' intriguingly indicates the role of the family living in the house. Thus, when the audience is busy following Kidman and her children to chase 'others', they fall into the same hole with main characters. In this way, the director cunningly brings everyone into the world of unknown fear, apprehansion, conflict and tension. Without any gory or scary scenes the movie became a successful thrill.

Apart from manipulating audience's psychological expectation, the director deliberately made the hostess and her children look perfect; they are well-dressed, sophiscated, and not a sign of mess on their hair. So perfect that no one would doubt why they lived in the middle of nowhere, alienated from other people. Throughout the whole movie we are as frightened as the hostess and her children. But when the ending comes we are pulled back to the real world. Tension disappeared and there is remorse for characters. You may then spend the next few hours trying to recall every detail in the movie.

'The Others' is a movie worth your time and you will surely enjoy psychological ups and downs it brings you.

Summary: The story seems to be frightening, but ending makes it a star.
