Advantages: An OK movie

Disadvantages: action takes place too late in the film, coould do better on the effects

Having heard mixed reviews of this movie, it wasn't high on my priorities of 'must see' videos, but on Saturday the opportunity arose to see it in all its wet glory!

Based on a true story, a crew of fishermen (skippered by George Clooney), go out to catch a mega haul of fish, cutting their way through mega waves on the way. Clooney's character relishes these kind of challenges when most of us would runaway (including most of the crew!!). But, as all good movies, it all goes horribly wrong as they get caught in the mother of all storms. I won't go any further as I wouldn't want to spoil it for you, but it is good!

As for the effects - well, I think it could have done better. I can appreciate that attempting to film about a vast ocean in a studio must have its drawbacks, but there are too many scenes that just don't look realistic, having said that it's still fairly believable.

Overall, it's not a very long film, but the main chunk of action takes places virtually right at the end, so you have to sit through a lot of incidentals, but if you're prone to falling asleep, you won't miss much!

The end is surprising (well, it was to me anyway!), but well done.
